LITTER UPDATE

21/08/2024

Glenyarra is very happy to announce that, Molly has had 7 puppies, 4 girls and 3 boys... It was a long road to success that included 2 vet visits for progesterone testing and ultra sounds to check puppies heartbeats and narrowly avoiding a caesar... but Molly did it her way. Molly delivered  7 babies, 6 of which were much larger than average size 2 days past her due date! Well done Molly!

Molly and her babies are all doing really well...welcome to the world little ones.

The parents of this  litter have been hip/elbow scored, have clear eye certificates and a healthy heart certificate, and Breeding Clearance Certificate all available for you to view...when you visit your puppy on our Open Day.

Puppies go home with a pedigree certificate, vet health check and proof of vaccination card, a microchip and a puppy information pack that includes; food, diet sheets, weight chart and loads of tips on raising and training a healthy and well adjusted pup.  Free Petplan Health Insurance coverage for six weeks.

Glenyarra welcomes all our new families and old friends who have returned!

Our Newborns are 1 week old  later today and are doing beautifully as you can see from the photo of the daily weight chart, included with this week's photos. I believe it is very important to track the growth of the pups daily in the first 2 weeks to make sure that they are all thriving. Molly's pups are thriving...all heading towards doubling their bithweights in the first week! Molly's pups were born heavier than the average expected weight for a seven pup litter. Except for our little yellow surprise pup whose placenta did not do the same job as the others. Little Yellow is doing beautifully and is a spirited little goer! She won't catch her siblings in the next 8 weeks but will grow to be the same size as her brothers and sisters by maturity, even before. I have made sure that I don't go far from the whelping box  this week to make sure the big boofers don't roll her off the teat!

Molly has settled into motherhood like she has done it all before, she is a very chilled and relaxed Mum, very affectionate with her pups. She did not leave the whelping box for the first 5 days  except for toileting and has now just started to have little breaks sitting just outside the box, as her milk supply starts to stabilise and she moves from demand feeding to set meal breaks!

Puppies cannot see or hear at this stage of development but their strong sense of smell alerts them that Molly is in the whelping box and as many of you have seen on a facetime or viber call they drag their fat little bodies towards her for some of that magic Mother's milk!  Hopefully, by the next post in a week they will have their eyes opened.

A pedicure is on the agenda for this arvo as the pups nails grow so quickly that they can scratch Molly as they drink from her. This cutting and filing is done each week.

All puppies from Molly's litter have new families...very special people from the current waiting list. It was a difficult day to have to ring many of you who missed a puppy offer this time. Hopefully, we will have good news for you over the coming months

Please enjoy this week's photos which show the massive changes that have happened in just one week... Many families enjoyed a quick facetime and saw Molly and her babies when I rang last weekend...I f you would like a video call this weekend, just send me a text with a suitable time, when you can gather the family around... I feel that I have some order happening here and would love to share Molly's and her golden babies with you all.

04.09.2024

Our puppies are 2 weeks old today and have had a wonderful week of sleeping, drinking till they are full and sleeping again...only to do it all over again two hours later! Molly continues to tend to every puppy need, feeding and cleaning them constantly. She does spend longer periods away from them as they sleep between feeds and loves to sleep curled around her babies. A wonderful visit from Molly's family this week was very touching as  I witnessed the excitement of the reunion and the love and pride in 'Molly the Mother' Thankyou Kylie and Leigh and girls for the loving care and kindness in which you have raised Molly to be so special  that she was choosen to have this amazing experience of 'being a Mum, just once' She is so mature, gentle and chilled.

Puppies' eyes have just started to open slightly in the corner of their eyes and will be fully open in the next few days although vision is blurry for a start. Puppies ears have also started to open and a little ear canal is visible. You can see from the photos that noses and feet pads are now black not pink as they were at birth. Puppies are starting to move around the box trying to take weight on their legs...not successfully at this stage. Dragging around their really fat tummies is not easy! The weight chart (photos) show wonderful progress with Baby Yellow trippling her birth weight and all the others leaping forward in great strides...if this continues they will out grow the whelping box earlier than usual.

Most families have enjoyed at least one Facetime...with 2 families booked in for tonight. Please text me if you would like another go as it is easier than when they are in the outside puppy house. Hopefully everyone received their first video yesterday...please let me know if there were any problems...yesterday was the test run for more videos in the coming weeks.

I will organise the visiting times for the Open Weekend 27th 28th & 29th of September in the coming 2  weeks...more info on how that weekend runs  and what you need to bring in next week's post.

Please enjoy this week's photos as much as I have being here and taking them.

11.09.24

Three weeks old today, our little ones have continued to show great weight gain throughtout this week with an average of 500 grms  gained per puppy...baby yellow is now 1.73kgs with all other pups  well over 2 kilos. It has been another busy week with the puppies introduced to being handled and hearing the giggles and shrieks from our 3 year old gandchild...this is a wonderful way to socialise our little ones. Once out in the puppy house the little ones will be exposed to a CD that plays sounds of thunder, washing machines, motor bike, babies crying and many more sounds in an attempt to de sensitize them  so they learn to accept and not be stressed as adult dogs...but this is something you must continue in exposing your pup to the world so they grow into a very 'chilled' Golden. I will discuss this approach with you all on our Open Day.

Puppies' mobility has increased, they now sit up and look around and are doing a 'woobly walk' but are definitely moving more quickly around the whelping box. Molly has difficulty finding a clear space to lie as they are everwhere! Molly sits up to feed now as they are almost too big to fit lying down. Puppies have started to become vocal and all sorts of squeaky barks and little growls can be heard as  they experiment with their new skill. Our little ones still spend the majority of their time sleeping and feeding but now have short periods when they are awake.

Thankyou to all the families that have shared our Facetimes ...they have been fun and hopefully make you feel closer to the litter and their journey. Our puppies will start to spend some time outside in the puppy house during the day where they can explore, exercise and be introduced to their toys...so lots of cleaning ,disenfecting and setting up the different areas has been happening.

On our Open Day you will get to spend time with the puppies in their house ,where they live, so you can judge for yourselves if you are happy with their upbringing ... however, I must ask everyone who wants to go in to bring a spare pair of clean socks to put over their feet as shoes will not be allowed for bio diversity reasons ...the pine chips stick to your socks so you will not want to travel home with them on...bare feet are not acceptable. You will be asked to hand santise as well. Please bring a robust toy to leave with us to gain the smells from the pen ...this will be very cherished by your little one when settling in at home.I  would like to suggest that you  get this toy soon and let members of the family sleep with it so it gains your smells ...  this is a wonderful activity for the children and starts to build their relationship with the newest family member. Times for the open day will be organised this week and our address sent out...please let me know if you have difficulty with the time allocated.

This week's photos of single puppies is done so you have a reference point to look back on later and also to see how the pups change going forward and will be more interesting after you have selected your pup...a difficult task as they are either too active and wiggly or half asleep! Please enjoy

18.09.2024

Four weeks today! A big week with the little ones outside in their puppy house during the daylight hours and inside at night. However much I have enjoyed watching  the puppy antics and making videos at night to send this has to come to an end... the puppies have started on their first solid food...weetbix and a small amount of soaked and mashed dry food once a day and they love it... but we don't enjoy the smell of their poo now!... so it's time for the move outside . I will still make videos to send!

All puppies have shown very pleasing weight gain with Pink female and the Grey male hitting the 3kg mark and the rest all within 150 gms of 3 kilos except for baby yellow who is now 2.3 kilos and doing  beautifully.

Puppies have enjoyed the outside area, larger than their whelping box and have stared to interact with the introduced toys... they also respond to me now as the 'food lady.' The pups only have a small puppy house area at the moment. As they grow in confidence I will open up the next section and introduce more toys. The puppy house is made of 3 sections ; an indoor room with radio,  heating and airconditioning and a camera to monitor what is happening. They have an outdoor area which is protected from the elements and lastly an outdoor grassed area. We will open each new area as the puppies' needs grow and they develop. They have already started listening to the desentize sounds on the CD while they feed from Molly and then listen to radio sounds for the rest of the day.

The Vet is booked for this afternoon and when I send out the video tonight I will report how the litter inspection and microchipping went. All times for the Open Day have been sent out and we are excited to greet everyone! The puppies are on Black Hawke at the moment and seem to be tolerating it well... I will confirm the choice of food at the Open Day. Once you have choosen your pup, on the Open Day, and looked at the parents' certificates I will ask you to sign your Sales Agreement, which I have printed out for each family and has the  official microchip sticker number on it that identifies your pup and you as the legal owner. You will also be asked to fill in the official Microchip Form for me to forward to Central Records.

Thankyou ! for the thankyou's and lovely responses to the videos and website updates... it's wonderful to read your feedback.

25.09.2024

Our little golden gang are 5 weeks old today. They have settled into the puppy house beautifully and now have access to all areas except the outside yard as the wind and rain has been too constant to introduce this new area as yet... but the weather must improve soon! Puppies have settled quite well on the Black Hawke and are showing good weight gains: Red F is 3.65 kilos, Green F is 3.85, Yellow is 3.05 and PinkF is 4.05 kilos. Our boys are doing well too: Grey M is 4.10kilos, with Aqua at 4 kilos and Blue is 3.85 kilos. Molly is not sleeping or feeding them at night and is feeding them 4 times a day. We are slowly weaning her. The puppies are now eating 3 little meals a day of soaked dry kibble. Over the coming weeks they will be introduced to small amounts of veggies and some cooked chicken and cooked mince. A detailed  Diet sheet will be emailed a week before Pick Up Day and there will also be a copy in your Informaion Folder collected on Pick Up day.

It has been a busy week with many visitors on the weekend and school holidays... who have played with and cuddled the pups ... they are getting very responsive to people... their little tails wag so fast. Puppies now play quite robustly with each other and love their toys, climbing challenges and their tunnels.

Our Open Days are this Friday, Saturday and Sunday...please don't forget your spare clean socks and a toy to leave with us till your return.  Please contact me if anyone is unwell in your family... we are older and would like to avoid the flu, covid or RSV and we can make alternate plans. We have some school holiday guests...a Spoodle called Millie and a Cavoodle named Skittles who will be very excited to greet you. Please let me know if being greeted by 4 dogs will be too overwhelming for your children or yourself and I will confine them.

Please re read the puppy care notes that you received with the offer email...it is a great idea to print them out and bring them with you with any questions written on the back, as sometimes people forget what they wanted to ask with all the excitement!

Once these sheets are printed you can put them in your information folder and then all your reference material is together. I will, over the next few weeks be emailing out different articles on training and socialisating your pup...maybe print those off as well to add to your folder

This week we have taken single shots of the babies... haven't they changed from the 3 week photos? And will change again in the next three. Personality traits are starting to show but remember they will grow and change as a combination of how they are treated/loved/trained and genetics...Nature and Nuture.

2.10.2024

Puppies are 6 weeks old today. Weights have continued to show pleasing progress: Buster is 4.9 kilos, Fletcher is 5.35 and Fudge is 5.31 kilos, Lily and Ruby are 5.2 kilos, Maisey is 5.04 kilos and Whiskey is 4.01 kilos. Molly has stopped feeding her pups and will be leaving us on the weekend...she has been an amazing mum giving her babies a flying start to life. Thankyou again to Molly's family for helping her be the best Golden Mother that she could be, by raising her in such a caring and loving environment.

Our Open Weekend was wonderful and the puppies and I enjoyed spending time with each family...they love their new toys! ...And their new names.

My Vet of 38 years is heavily involved in the Melbourne Show this week and will not visit us for vaccinations and Heath Examinations until next week. I will ring each family next week after his visit to let you know how your puppy went and to discuss the first night and introducing your pup to your pets at home... and anything else that you would like to talk about.

As it is my birthday today I am off to celebrate... please ring if you have any queries.  Enjoy this week's photos.

9.10.2024

Our puppies are 7 weeks old today...as I look at all the photos to this stage I am a little sad, as this has been a lovely journey with this litter, which is soon to come to an end for me. Molly has left us and is now back with her family enjoying their attention and is playing happily with Myra...she has even been to the groomers and is looking stunning. I have put up a photo of the shampoo that we use and I highly recommend it. Just remember that it is not great to wash your puppy very often as it washes the oils out of their beautiful coats... frequent brushing is the best for them. It is best to brush them when they are not in active mode...usually after they have played and eaten and are ready for a sleep. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting a sleepy pup on your lap and  giving them a gentle brush. A lovely bonding experience for you both.

All puppies were seen by the vet and given a health examination... every puppy passed this examination. Please have a good look at the certificate that was sent to you and read what it covers. Then all puppies were given their first vaccination.

Once again this week all puppies ate well and gained weight...Fletcher and Fudge are 6kilos, with Buster close behind at 5.9 kilos. Lily at 6 kilos and Maisey  at 5.97, Ruby at 5.7 kilos and Whiskey at 4.77. We are using 2 large bowls now as we try and give the slower eaters time to eat before the bigger, faster eating puppies move in!

Information folders have been put together with the Pedigree certificates...which have also arrived, from Dog's Victoria, which is wonderful...as this doesn't always happen.

Please re read the Puppy Care Notes to refresh your memory on best care practices for your pup. Please remember to have some soaked food ready for you pup  for when you get home as I will only give a tiny breakfast to try and avoid  car sickness on the way home...so they will be hungry! Don't forget that old towel as your pup may vomit...first ride in a car...motion sickness

There will be one last email in the next couple of days with some articles to read...please call if you have any queries. I will make one last call to everyone over the weekend to go through 'puppy coming home arrangements' and 'that first night!'

Please come as early as you can on PICK UP day, so your pup has the most time at home to settle in before the night.
